We have people ask us all of the time, "Why isn't my website getting traffic?". There could be several reasons that could cause this. We have listed 4 things that could hinder your website traffic below. These are not the only things, but the ones we see the most.

4 Things That Can Hinder Your Website Traffic

Your Website Isn't Optimized For Search Engines

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the technique used to increase the number of visitors to a website and is a must for a successful website. SEO increases the number of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
Having the right key phrases in your page titles, headlines, and body of content is a major part of SEO.  Another component is making sure your meta-tag title and descriptions are catchy and that they paint an accurate picture of what kind of site/business you have.

Website Loading Time

Because our world is so fast-paced and we rely so heavily on instant gratification, you have about three to four seconds to get your visitors’ attention.  Nobody wants to waste time waiting for things to load and they want to see results NOW.  Therefore, your website needs to be optimized for speed.  By limiting the usage of images and special effects on your website, you will see an increase in your loading speed.

You Don't Promote Your Website

Promoting your website is a must and is mandatory for success.  There are so many social media platforms that are free to use and are a perfect place for you to promote.  If you don’t already have a Facebook page, a Twitter, and/or an Instagram account for your business, you have some work to do!  We cannot stress the importance of having a social media presence and posting links that direct viewers back to your website.
Other methods of promoting your website are Facebook Ads, Google AdWords, and SEO.  While these options are not free, they are worth it and extremely beneficial!

Your Website Isn't Mobile Responsive

Checking your website for smartphone and tablet compatibility is a must.  If you find yourself having to pinch and/or swipe to navigate your website, it is NOT mobile responsive and you are potentially losing a lot of traffic.  A professional web designer/developer understands the importance and need for this mobile compatibility and is up-to-date on the latest requirements that are needed to rank in the search engines.
